Sail4Sustainability Workshops in Austria

Three engaging national workshops took place in Austria, highlighting the connection between sailing, education, and sustainability.

1st & 2nd Workshops – Segelschule Breitenbrunn (April 4th & June 7th)
Each event welcomed 10 participants and was guided by two experienced trainers. The founder of the sailing school, Andreas, opened the sessions by emphasizing the importance of sailing for sustainability and its positive impact on our relationship with nature.

Aylin then introduced the Sail4Sustainability project, presenting its goals and the toolkit developed by international partners. Participants—ranging from beginners to experienced sailors—were divided into two boats based on language preference (English and German).

During the sailing sessions, participants learned basic techniques, discussed personal motivations, and explored the environmental aspects of sailing. Each event concluded with a reflective group discussion on what sustainability means within the context of sailing.

3rd Workshop – Online (June 12th)
The third session gathered 10 participants virtually, featuring insights from the trainer and Pelin Öztürk. The workshop focused on presenting the Sail4Sustainability toolkit and fostering an interactive exchange among participants, including the newly appointed Sail4Sustainability ambassadors.

These workshops showcased how sailing can serve as both an educational and inspirational tool—connecting people, nature, and sustainability in meaningful ways.
