As part of the Sail4Sustainability project, JK MAXI Sailing Club organized two national workshops in Rijeka, Croatia, to promote sustainability, inclusion, and environmental responsibility through sailing.
Both workshops showcased how sailing can serve as an effective tool for education, environmental awareness, and social inclusion.
1st National Workshop – Rijeka (9 April 2025)
The first national workshop was held at JK MAXI and gathered 10 participants, mainly young sailors, trainers, and representatives of local sailing clubs and educational institutions.
The session introduced the Sail4Sustainability project and presented the Toolkit for Inclusion and Diversity in Sustainable Sailing.
Participants discussed the environmental impact of sailing, emphasizing the importance of renewable energy use, sustainable materials, and inclusive club culture.
They explored how coaches and athletes can become ambassadors of sustainability, promoting eco-friendly behavior and inclusivity both on and off the water.
2nd National Workshop – Fiumanka Regatta (13 June 2025)
The second national workshop took place during Croatia’s largest sailing event – the Fiumanka Regatta.
Held in Rijeka and organized by JK MAXI, the event brought together 20 official participants and over 30 spectators, including children and parents attending the public sailing demonstration.
The workshop included a panel discussion and a practical sailing session for children.
Speakers and trainers highlighted how sailing events can promote environmental protection and social inclusion.
Discussions focused on waste reduction, renewable energy use, and eco-friendly event management, while the children’s demonstration emphasized teamwork, safety, and respect for the sea.
