Learning to Sail for Sustainability: Empowering Youth through Sea and Action
Between April and July 2025, ASD Sport Compass conducted the Italian piloting phase of the Erasmus+ Sail4Sustainability project, testing innovative educational tools linking sailing, sustainability, and non-formal learning.
🧭 National Online Workshop – April 11, 2025
The pilot began with a National Online Workshop, introducing 17 participants to the digital learning platform and sustainable sailing framework.
Interactive sessions explored connections to the UN SDGs, marine pollution, and social inclusion, with feedback improving digital resources and inclusivity strategies.
⛵ Sailing in Sardinia – May to July 2025
From May to July, over 30 young participants sailed aboard Mina in Sardinia, combining navigation training with real-world sustainability practices — including ecosystem observation, zero-impact sailing, and digital marine monitoring.
🌍 Hybrid Workshop & Beach Cleaning – July 24, 2025
The phase concluded on July 24, 2025, with a Hybrid Sailing Workshop and Beach Cleaning at Parco di Porto Conte, streamed online with partners from Croatia and the Netherlands .
Nearly 50 participants engaged in sailing demonstrations, environmental actions, and international exchanges. 💬🚤

The piloting provided practical experience, fostered cross-border collaboration, and promoted sailing as a tool for environmental awareness and social inclusion, paving the way for wider European implementation.
